Evaluation
The evaluation process begins with the parent/caregiver completing an intake form that I will review prior to the evaluation. On the day of the evaluation, formal assessments as well as informal observations will be used to provide a thorough evaluation of your child's orofacial and/or speech sound development. Evaluations may take between 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on individual needs.
Speech Therapy
Following an evaluation, speech therapy can begin and will follow the recommended treatment plan. Sessions last 30-40 minutes, with an additional 5-10 minutes of wrap up with parent/caregiver. I will write a session note and provide home practice activities that should be worked on until the next therapy session.
Lindamood LiPS
Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program develops phonemic awareness, reading, spelling, and speech. Clients discover the physical characteristics of each phoneme and use this kinesthetic feedback to verify sounds within words. LiPS sessions are typically provided 4-5 times per week per client.
Orofacial Myology Treatment (OMT)
OMT helps to normalize oral and facial muscles as they relate to speech, dentition, chewing and swallowing, oral rest posture, and facial development. Speech language pathologists delivering OMT often work in conjunction with Ear Nose and Throat specialists, dentists, and orthodontists. OMT targets malocclusions, tongue thrusts, tethered oral tissues, sleep disordered breathing, and oral habits.
